THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY
In today's yoga world many foreign yoga practitioners would like to feel connected with an ancient tradition through Yoga. We believe that learning the philosophy of yoga directly from the elders of Mysore can help us come closer to this tradition.
The Yoga of Mysore has been debated about for decades. What is traditional? What isn't?
How can we participate in this tradition or Parampara.
The compassion, sincerity, academic brilliance, and deep reverence for yoga and all spiritual practice among the scholars of Mysore will leave you stunned. It is truly inspiring and eye opening!
This conference will give an in depth view of the History and Philosophy of the yoga we practice world wide.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
We will explore classical Indian philosophies with the people who know them best. There will be emphasis on the History of Yoga In Mysore, Pathanjali Sutras, Mysore Yoga Parampara, and Bhagavad Gita. You will learn how the Yoga practices you know and love fit into a larger body of practices and philosophies from some of the most qualified people in the world.
This retreat aims to give a true understanding of yoga by direct transmission from senior teachers with a lifetime of experience. Learn about the real Mysore Yoga Parampara which does not rest on any one person but comes from a whole community.
Asana Practice will be lead each day by Andrew Eppler. Andrew is a senior student of Sri BNS Iyengar with over 30 years of experience with Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. Having made a long study of the mythology, symbology and inner structure of Ashtanga Yoga, Andrew will share what he has learned over the years about this practice. Andrew will be assisted by a team of his advanced students and friends. We will practice traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with adjustments. There will be therapeutic variations and individual counseling on safety and how to work with difficult areas of asana practice.
