ARE COLLABORATING TO CREATE A VERY SPECIAL EVENT!
MYSORE YOGA TRADITIONS CONFERENCE IS A SINCERE CONVERSATION BETWEEN CULTURES. IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT THE HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF YOGA FROM THE BRILLIANT SANSKRIT SCHOLARS AND YOGIS OF MYSORE. EVEN IF YOU HAVE STUDIED ASANA FOR DECADES IN MYSORE, THIS CONFERENCE WILL OPEN A WHOLE NEW DIMENSION AND GIVE A DEEPER INSIGHT INTO THE COMMUNITY THAT GAVE US ASHTANGA VINYASA YOGA.

THE THIRD ANNUAL MYSORE YOGA CONFERENCE WILL BE ONLINE AND ACCESSIBLE TO THE WHOLE WORLD!
Andrew Eppler is the Director and Producer of the film Mysore Yoga Traditions and a well known Ashtanga Yoga teacher. Andrew will be working together with Dr. MA Alwar and Dr. Lakshmi Thathachar of the Samskriti Foundation in Mysore to create this unique yoga experience.
THIS IS MORE THAN JUST A CONFERENCE
IT’S A CONVERSATION BETWEEN CULTURES AS TOP SCHOLARS FROM INDIA TEACH THE WORLD DEEP YOGA PHILOSOPHY
No one knows the history and philosophy of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga better than the Sanskrit community of Mysore!
From the origin of the Ashtanga sequences that have had a huge impact on yoga world wide, to the philosophical foundations of this global practice, all questions can be answered.
Senior Sanskrit scholars from the Maharaja's Sanskrit College and around Mysore are collaborating to create a unique experience for the international yoga community. This retreat will provide an authentic, authoritative, behind the scenes look into the fabric of yoga culture in Mysore. The scholars of Mysore are not selling a brand of yoga or anything else. They simply share their views about what yoga means to them, and what foreign people can do to move further into yoga practice, especially in our attitude and behavior. This is an opportunity for us to mature our yoga practice beyond simply practicing postures.
MYSORE HOLDS MANY SECRETS! EXPERIENCE THE RICHNESS AND BEAUTY OF MYSORE'S YOGA COMMUNITY FIRST HAND.
CONNECT WITH THE WISDOM OF MYSORE
In today's yoga world many foreign yoga practitioners would like to feel connected with an ancient tradition through Yoga. We believe that learning the philosophy of yoga directly from the elders of Mysore can help us come closer to this tradition.
The Yoga of Mysore has been debated about for decades. What is traditional? What isn't?
How can we participate in this tradition or Parampara?
The compassion, sincerity, academic brilliance, and deep reverence for yoga and all spiritual practice among the scholars of Mysore will leave you stunned.
THE SCHOLARS OF MYSORE HAVE VAST KNOWLEDGE OF ALL PHILOSOPHY BOTH EASTERN AND WESTERN. THEIR MESSAGES CAN TRULY INSPIRE US AND EVOLVE OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE YOGA WE LOVE TO PRACTICE.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The main theme of this year's conference is "History of Yoga in Mysore". The history of modern yoga has been debated for decades. Let's consult the people who were actually there! Other topics will include Ayurveda, Sankhya Philosophy, Maṇḍalabrāhmaṇopaniṣad - a Yogic Upaniṣad., Svādhīna-sañjīvanam - a modern text on Yoga, and an in depth discussion of the life and teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya by the head of the Mysore Yoga Mandiram in Chennai. We will be constantly referring to the Bhagavad Gita and Pattanjali Sutras as we explore Indian Philosophy as a whole. Join us as we honor some of the last living students of Sri Krishnamacharya!
This retreat aims to give a true understanding of yoga by direct transmission from senior teachers with a lifetime of experience. Learn about the real Mysore Yoga Parampara which does not rest on any one person but comes from a whole community.
MEET THE TEACHERS
Collectively these great scholars, yogis, and spiritual leaders in the community truly carry the spirit of yoga in Mysore. They have memorized more scripture than most western yoga students will ever read. There is nothing about the history and philosophy of yoga in Mysore that they do not know. By studying with them we can gain deep insight and a clear understanding of the yoga that made a positive impact on so many lives!
